If you have suffered an injury which has been caused by an animal, you may be entitled to claim compensation from the owner or keeper of that animal. Animal owners and keepers have a duty to ensure that their animals do not cause injury.
The most common types of these accidents are when bitten by a dog. Whilst the owner/keeper is generally responsible for their behavior, these cases aren’t always straightforward. In the case of a dog bite for example, you would normally have to prove a history of bad behavior in the dog, and that the owner failed to provide adequate precautions to prevent the attack, or that the dog is a ‘dangerous’ breed. Other examples of animal related cases are where animals stray onto the highway causing accidents.
Similarly if you have been injured as a result of a horse riding accident, or an accident when handling a horse, you may be able to make a claim for compensation if it can be shown that the accident was as a result of negligence by the horse owner, stable operator or riding school. Even if the accident could not have been prevented you may still be able to make a successful claim for compensation if they have failed to take ‘reasonable’ precautions
The law relating to these types of claims is complex and the individual characteristics of each case need to be carefully considered and you therefore require the advice of a Solicitor with thorough and expert knowledge and expertise of this area of personal injury law. We are happy to provide a free assessment of your potential claim and advise if a claim is possible and thereafter act on a no win no fee basis to help you recover compensation.
